FIJI WIN OCEANIA SEVENS, NEW ZEALAND BAG WOMEN'S TITLE

Defending Olympic champions  Fiji  won all matches to clinch the  Oceania Sevens  title. The Flying Fijians were undefeated in six matches at the warm-up tournament ahead of  Tokyo Olympics , which will begin in less than 30 days. THE MATCH The 2016 Olympic rugby gold medalists in Rio de Janeiro, beat hosts  Australia  26-14 to make a winning start to the competition at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. Fiji completed the tournament in style by defeating  Oceania Barbarians  33-5 and a 17-7 win over New Zealand on Sunday. With the good combination of young and senior players,  Gareth Baber  will have a tough time to pick the best 13 players to defend the gold medal in Japan. In the women's event,  New Zealand  were also unbeaten throughout the tournament. The reigning women's world and  Commonwealth Games  champions, thrashed the  Oceania  side 51-0 and were on fire again in their 33-14 triumph against Fiji. IRELAND MEN, FRANCE WOMEN AND RUSSIA WOMEN SECURE OLYMPIC SPOTS

Ireland  beat  France  to win the men’s Olympic  Repechage  tournament in Monaco. The victory assured them a place at the  Olympic Games  in Tokyo next month. France and Russia Women teams also secured their places at the Olympic after dominating the three days tournament at at Stade Louis II. In the final match, Ireland took the lead in the qualifier final through  Terry Kennedy , but  Stephen Parez  and  Paulin Riva  gave France a 12-7 lead at half time. However the Irish men made a comeback after the break. Two tries by  Jordan Conroy  and another by  Harry McNulty  sent Ireland to their first ever Olympic. In the women qualifiers, France beat  Hong Kong  51-0 to confirm their return to the Games with  Anne-Cécile Ciofani ,  Chloe Jacquet  and  Séraphine Okemba  on the score sheet.  Russia  women will also make their Olympic debut in Japan next month after a 38-0 victory against  Kazakhstan . JAPAN SET TO PLAY AGAINST THE LIONS IN HISTORIC RUGBY FIXTURE

For the first time in rugby union history,  Japan  will play the  British and Irish Lions  at Murrayfield Stadium. It will be an exciting occasion as Japan determined to win the match before the Lions tour to South Africa. If Japan can display the same performances at the 2015 and 2019  World Cup s, then victory is not impossible. The Lions have picked a solid squad of power and pace. But the  Brave Blossoms  have shown that they are capable of winning big matches. It will be a big test for the British and Irish Lions before they face the World Champions  South Africa . The Lions have not play together for about four years, therefore it can be difficult for them to have a good chemistry before the match. NOVAK DJOKOVIC WINS 19TH GRAND SLAM AT ROLAND GARROS

Novak Djokovic comes from two sets down to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling French Open final. It is the first time for the Serbian star to stage a comeback from two sets down in a grand slam final. The 22-year-old Greek star, appearing in only his first grand slam final, displayed experience and poise beyond his years to race into a two-set lead. However Djokovic's grit and determination proved too much, with the world No. 1 eventually prevailing 6-7 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4 in a match that lasted more than four hours. Djokovic reached the final after defeating Rafa Nadal 3-6 6-3 7-6 6-2 in the last four. Tsitsipas beat Alexander Zverev 6-3 6-3 4-6 4-6 6-3 to play in his first grand slam final. ASIA RUGBY TO INTRODUCE SUB-REGIONS SEVENS COMPETITIONS

Asia Rugby announced that the competitions calendar for 2021 will be adjusted to a five sub-regions sevens competitions. Aiming at returning to play, the idea will provide meaningful opportunities for participation to all the 34 member unions in its respective sub-regional competition. CAPE TOWN SET TO HOST WORLD CUP SEVENS 2022

World Rugby and hosts South Africa Rugby today confirmed Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 in Cape Town will take place from 9-11 September, 2022. The eighth edition is the first to be hosted in Africa with organisers anticipating a very special and record-breaking event at the iconic 57,654 capacity Cape Town Stadium. Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 will be contested by 24 men’s and 16 women’s teams. The top eight men’s teams and top four women’s teams from the hugely successful RWC Sevens 2018 in San Francisco, USA, have already secured automatic qualification for the tournament in 2022. What could have been a Manchester total domination of Europe 2021 became exactly the opposite. Manchester City squandered the best chance to secure their first Champions League Final win when they lost to Chelsea 2 - 1 last night. This is a major bummer to the City of Manchester when their Red neighbors also lost out on a spectacularly in the Europa League Final just 48 hours earlier.
