ARRC: ZAMRI SCORES A DOUBLE AT SEPANG

Mohd Zamri Baba fought the pain of his injuries to claim a double victory ahead of poleman, Katsuaki Fujiwara in SuperSports 600cc battle as the opening round of the 2014 PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship in Sepang on Sunday. The victory also marked the Malaysian rider first time winning his home race, a feat only reigning champion, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman and Chia Tuck Cheong achieved before. Zamri, who is still using crutches after injuring his left leg in a dirt track training accident in February, won the Race One in 27:38.920. Yuki Ito of Japan finished second in 27:39.471, while 2011 champion Katsuaki Fujiwara took third place in 27:40.605. The Musashi Boon Siew Honda Racing rider went on to mastermind one of the best races of his career in Race Two to trail his Kawasaki rival and lay his assault in the final lap whilst the latter struggled with grip and handling issues. JIMENEZ WINS IN CHAMPIONS TOUR DEBUT

Miguel Angel Jimenez held off Bernhard Langer to win the Greater Gwinnett Championship on Sunday, becoming only the third player to lead from start to finish in his debut on the 50-and-over tour. The Spaniard coming off a fourth-place finish in the Masters, closed with a 67 to finish two strokes ahead of Langer. Jimenez finished the tournament with 32 consecutive holes without a bogey at TPC Sugarloaf . Langer, the defending champion, shot his third-straight 68. Jimenez and Langer were tied at 10 under before a two-shot swing on No. 8. Jimenez needed only a short putt for a birdie, and Langer fell two strokes behind with his bogey. After that, Jimenez avoided mistakes down the stretch, leaving no opening for Langer or Jay Haas , who shot 67 and was third, four shots off the lead. Jimenez insisted the win wasn't easy. DONNA VEKIC CAPTURED FIRST WTA TITLE AT BMW MALAYSIAN OPEN

Croatia's Donna Vekic captured her first Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour singles title at the BMW Malaysian Open at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) in Kuala Lumpur today. The seventh seed however, blew it in the third set before edging World No. 10 and top seed Dominika Cibulkova 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) in the rain-interrupted final, which lasted more than two hours. It was also her first ever win over a top 10 player. She earned a prize purse of US$43,000 for her efforts while Dominika received US$21,400. "It was a tough match, she played very well. I was 5-1 up in the third set but she played insanely well to get back. The fans here really helped, so this win is for them as well." A finalist in Tashkent (2013) and Birmingham (2013), Donna had a healthy 5-1 lead in the third set and should have served out the match. However, Dominika clawed back into the match to level at 5-5. LEE WESTWOOD CONQUERS MAYBANK MALAYSIAN OPEN AGAIN

Lee Westwood marched to a convincing seven-stroke victory for his first title in two years after a flawless four-under-par 68 at the Maybank Malaysian Open on Sunday. The Englishman completed his wire-to-wire win in style when he holed a 20-foot birdie putt on the last for an 18-under-par 270 winning total at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club . Major champion Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa threatened briefly by shooting four birdies in his first seven holes but dropped shots around the turn saw his challenge fizzle as he signed for to a 68, taking joint second place with Austrian Bernd Wiesberger and Ryder Cup star Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium in the US$2.75 million event sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour . RUGBY SUPER LEAGUE: SSTMI 22 – KERIS CONLAY 8 Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School 's (SSTMI) finally clinched the Malaysian Rugby Super League title yesterday after they outlasted defending champions Keris Conlay 22-8 in the final yesterday. Runners-up in 2012, SSTMI were in control at the UKM Stadium , notching tries through Wan Izzudin Ismail and a brace from Fijian Nalawa Malakai . Mohamad Syarif Saiful Aazwan converted twice in addition to a penalty. Keris Conlay's had just one try from national player Muhamad Syabil Laila after Supriyanto Sudyai scored a penalty in the first half. SSTMI lead 10-3 in the first half before wrapping-up the second with 22-8. Head coach, Wan Ibrahim Wan Chik was very emotional after the game. He was so proud of his players and respects their desire to win the title. It was a great achievement for him and his team. TIMEA BABOS-HAO CHING WIN BMW MALAYSIA OPEN DOUBLES

Timea Babos and Taiwan's Chan Hao Ching won their first Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour doubles title as a team in the BMW Malaysian Open at Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) in Kuala Lumpur today. The top seeds defeated fourth seed Zheng Saisai of China and Taiwan's Chan Yung Jan 6-3, 6-4 in the rain-delayed final, which lasted for 71 minutes. It was Timea's first doubles title of the season since victory in Sydney with Lucie Safarova in January. As for Hao Ching, the win in KL is her third career title. Today's triumph also meant that Hao Ching got the better of her older sister, Yung Jan, for the second time in a final following victory in the mixed doubles gold medal match at last year's East Asian Games. Yung Jan could have been the first player in the BMW Malaysian Open to win a second title after winning the doubles event with China's Zheng Jie in 2010. MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: SELANGOR 1 - LIONS XII 0 Selangor collected another three points after taking down Lions XII at Shah Alam Stadium. Steve Pantelidis goal was enough for the Red Giants ' narrow 1-0 win over Lions XII. The Australian, who was pushed to play in midfield by coach Mehmet Durakovic , headed in the winner in the 23rd minute for Selangor's eighth win. The win is a perfect response from the Red Giants, after crashing out of the AFC Cup on Wednesday. Selangor also reclaimed second spot in the Super League with 27 points from 13 matches, and keeping the pressure on leaders Pahang who lead by a point and have played a game more. Selangor got the breakthough when Pantelidis nodded in the goal after receiving a flick from striker Paulo Rangel . Andik Vermansyah and S.
