Indra Putra Mahayuddin pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 23rd minute. But his goal couldn't lift his team as JDT found the net again in the 38th minute through Safiq Rahim . J

FERRER CRUISES INTO MALAYSIAN OPEN QUARTER FINALS

Image
Top seed David Ferrer enjoyed a confidence boosting start to his Malaysian Open , Kuala Lumpur 2013 campaign as he cruised past Italian qualifier Matteo Viola 6-2, 6-3 in 73 minutes here at Centre Court of Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil to move into the quarterfinals. The 31-year-old Ferrer, who made the semifinals of this tournament in 2010 and 2012, started off sharp and played an aggressive baseline game against Viola, running the Italian all around the court. Viola (world No. 140), who made it into the second round courtesy of a kind first round draw against a fellow qualifier, put up a brave fight with some beautiful winners towards the end of the second set, but the 26-year-old never posed much of a challenge to the world No. 4 Spaniard. Ferrer will face the winner of tomorrow's second round match between Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas and Portugal's Joao Sousa . Photo: Chew SC / Tigers Super Sports

It is the Mexican's first goal of the campaign came early in the second-half, United manager David Moyes had barely got beyond the penalty area in his walk to the home dug-out. It meant it was easy to spot the Scot's celebration, at a strike that should at least quell some of the angst that built up following that awful hammering at Manchester City four days ago. Shinji Kagawa and Nani were so alived, whilst stand-in captain Rooney buzzed around with menace. United held Liverpool at bay for what could turn out to be a very meaningful victory for their manager. Photo: Man Utd Not enough  FOOTBALL ??? Click HERE!

Stenson was nine shots ahead at the turn on Saturday, saw that lead decreased to just one after 20-year-old Speith ran with seven birdies in 10 holes. But he held his nerve down the stretch to secure the $1.4m first prize for winning the Tour Championship plus the mighty $10m bonus prize for winning the FedEx Cup. Tiger Woods recorded a 67, his lowest 18 of the week, to finish tied 22nd of the 30-man field. However, it was still enough for the world number one to finish second in the final FedEx Cup standings.
