CHAN SHIH-CHANG WINS THE KING'S CUP

Chinese Taipei's Chan Shih-chang realised his dream of winning his first Asian Tour title after a final round three-under-par 67 saw him lift the King's Cup presented by PTT Group on Sunday. Having already won five times on the Asian Development Tour (ADT), Chan knew a victory on the Asian Tour was long overdue and was clearly ecstatic when he compiled a four-day total of 12-under-par 268 to win the US$750,000 event by two shots. Compatriot Lin Wen-tang was also all smiles despite finishing second with a 66 at the Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club.Thailand's Danthai Boonma came close to retaining the King's Cup on home soil but faltered after a closing 64 left him three shots back of Chan where he would finish in tied-third with England's Mark Foster. Victory was especially sweet for Chan as he became the second player from Chinese Taipei after Chan Yih-shin in 2009 to win the King's Cup. GOOD START FOR SRI LANKA IN U20 SEVENS SERIES

Sri Lanka won the Malaysia leg of the Asia Rugby U20 Sevens Series in Johor on Sunday. The Young Tuskers defeated the determined South Korean 38-0 in the final. Sri Lanka took control of the game from the start and recorded a half-time lead 21-0. South Korean struggled to maintain their good form throughout the tournament, and fell further after the break. Japan clinched the third place finishing after beating Malaysia 41-0. Thailand claimed the Women Under 20 title with a 7-5 win over Kong Kong in the final. The second leg of the Asian Under 20 Rugby Sevens tournament will be held in Hong Kong, on August 12. KEDAH FALL IN PENANG

LIGA SUPER: PULAU PINANG 3 - KEDAH 2 Penang take full advantage playing at home ground and collects three important point by winning over their neighbor. Kedah, Liridon Krasniqi had put the Red Falcons in-front  in the 14th minute before the home team had equalized via their South Korean import player, J Seok Min in 25th minute of the match. The Korean had added another goal in the 36th minute before half-time giving the home team 2-1 lead at half-time break. Penang had netted another goal just a minute after the referee blows the whistle to start the second-half via Mathias Cardoba.   Kedah were awarded with the penalty kick and has converted by their import player, Thiago Agusto in the 76th minute of the match. Kedah had to be satisfied with the results after working hard for an equalizer until the final whistle.

JOHOR DT CLAIM NARROW WIN OVER KELANTAN

​​LIGA SUPER: JOHOR DT 1 - KELANTAN 0 Jorge Diaz steer JDT to a sweet victory against stubborn Kelantan with 1-0 score at Larkin Stadium on Tuesday. The Argentinean sealed the game through a header in the 46th minutes after receiving Azammuddin Akil cross from the right. Seven minutes later, Kelantan forward Blazhe Illioski nearly put the ball into the net but his lob just went wide. The Red Warriors once again had the chances but a long shot by Wander Luiz during injury time was well save by JDT goalkeeper. The win sees JDT leading the Super League standings with 39 points from 15 match played. ​

KHAIRUL HAFIZ WINS SUKMA 100M WITH NEW RECORD

Khairul Hafiz Jantan wins the 100m Sukma gold medal with a stunning 10.18s, breaking Watson Nyambek 's 10.30 set in 1998. The Melaka born sprinter took the right time and place to break the 18-year-old men's national 100m record. The 18-year-old blazed the track in 10.18 seconds to clinch the gold medal in the Sukma blue riband event at the Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya on Wednesday. His effort erased Sarawakian Watson Nyambek's previous mark of 10.30, which was set during the 1998 pre-Commonwealth Games at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil. Khairul's time not only eclipsed the Sukma record of 10.33 set by Watson as well in Kuantan in 1996, but is also just 0.01 off the SEA Games mark of 10.17 set by Indonesia's Suryo Agung Wibowo in Laos in 2009. JOHOR DT ESCAPE FROM PDRM WITH A POINT

​PIALA MALAYSIA: PDRM 1 - JOHOR DT 1 A late goal struck by Safuwan Baharudin of PDRM gave the team relief and earned a point against the JDT at home. First-half ended with goalless from both teams, where both teams have balance in their ball possession in the first-half. JDT took the lead in the 70th minute of the match after K. Reuben netted an own goal. The home team had turned to be more aggressive in the last 20th minute and found the net a few minutes before the referee blows the whistle to end the match.

PERAK HIT FOUR AGAINST PKNS

LIGA SUPER: PERAK 4 - PKNS FC 1 First-half starts with both teams were struggling to find the net and leave the pitch with a goalless draw for the half-time break. Perak, Elias Fernandes has opened the scoring two minutes after the second-half starts. The home side does not have to wait too long to add two more goals via Xhavahir Sukaj and Fazrul Hazli in the 50th and 51st minutes of the match. Elias Fernandes again in the 64th minute had scored another goal and give a big blow to the away team with 4-0 down. PKNS only managed to get their consolation goal via Gonzalo Manuel Soto before the referee blows the whistle to end the match.
