SEKOLAH SAINS TUANKU JAAFAR WIN STJ-AFJETS INTERNATIONAL

AFJETS-STJ INTERNATIONAL RUGBY 10'S FINAL CUP U17: STJ WARRIORS 13 - RMC 5 Sekolah Menengah Sains Tuanku Jaafar (STJ Warriors) claimed the Under-17 title at AFJets-STJ 10s International Rugby Tournament in Kuala Pilah on Sunday. Supported by the home crowd, STJ Warriors defeated Royal Military College (RMC) 13-5 in the final. Tries by Tombiro Kana and Muhammad Khairi Mohd Radzi sealed title for the Warriors. Sekolah Menengah Seri Mersing clinched the Under-15 title after edging King George V School (KGV) 15-10 in extra-time. Both team were tied 10-10 after full time. STJ Warriors captain Tombiro Kana was awarded the Under-17 Most Valuable Player, and Mohammed Arif Duharis from Seri Mersing took the Under-15's award. The AFJets-STJ 10s International Rugby Tournament was held on 28-29 May. A total of 32 top teams from Malaysia and Sri Lanka had participated in this edition. PANUWAT POWERS TO VICTORY AT PGM PORT DICKSON CHAMPIONSHIP

Thailand's Panuwat Muenlek secured his third Asian Development Tour (ADT) title and second win of the season with a come-from-behind one-shot triumph at the PGM Port Dickson Championship on Saturday. Panuwat, who turns 31 years old tomorrow, earned himself an early birthday present after signing for a flawless six-under-par 65 highlighted by six birdies to win on 14-under-par 270 total at the Port Dickson Golf and Country Club. Jakraphan Premsirigorn, also of Thailand, matched his closing efforts to settle for second place with Singapore's Johnson Poh, who carded a second consecutive 67 to cap his best result on the region's burgeoning Tour at the RM200,000 (approx. US$46,600) event. Panuwat, who trailed by two shots at the start of the day, produced a gutsy performance as he birdied the last two holes to take home the winner's prize purse of US$8,618 and receive six Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. JOHOR DT SINK KAYA FC IN AFC CUP

​AFC CUP: JOHOR DT 7 - KAYA FC 2 Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) trounced Kaya FC 7-2 at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium here last night to book their place in the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup competition. Juan Lucero (14th, 54th and 70th) and Azammudin Mohd Akil (33th, 39th), Jorge Pereyra Diaz (22nd- penalty) and Mahali Jasuli (68th) were on target for the star-studded Southern Tigers coached by Mario Gomez. The Filipino side's consolation goals were netted by Jose Elmer Porteria (53rd) and Antonio Ugarte (87th). The pitch was slippery due to a downpour, but JDT did not have problems to dominate the match. ​

LIN WEN-KO CAPTURES AMBASSADOR ADT TITLE

Lin Wen-ko of Chinese Taipei cruised to an eight-shot victory at the US$120,000 Ambassador ADT on Sunday to give himself hope of reviving his professional golf career. Lin, who has been struggling with a hip injury since 2003, closed with a one-under-par 71 to win his first Asian Development Tour (ADT) title with a stunning total of 20-under-par 268 at the Hsin Feng Golf and Country Club. Lu Wei-chih of Chinese Taipei fired the low round 63 to finish second while Thailand's Poom Saksansin ended his campaign a further shot back in third place on a 278 total to move to fourth position on the ADT Order of Merit. The 41-year-old Lin enjoyed a career breakthrough on the Asian Tour when he won the 2003 Taiwan Masters but had to stop playing professionally after undergoing a hip surgery in the same year. KAJANG RAMS WIN PURAJAYA RUGBY LEAGUE

PUTRAJAYA RUGBY LEAGUE (FINAL) KAJANG RAMS 23 - MIAT FALCON 19 Kajang Rams claimed the Putrajaya Rugby League title after defeating MIAT Falcons 23-19 in the final match at Alamanda on Sunday. The Falcons gave a good fight until the final whistle, but Kajang Rams were more superior to secure the victory. Qubyx Lions secored the third place after beating Bangi Hunters 30-10 in the third/4th placing match. The Lions were very disciplined and did not give much space for their opponents to score more points. Kajang Rams had a good start by taking 11-0 lead at the break. MIAT Falcons scored 19 points in the second half, but Kajang Rams late try handed them the title. The victory qualifies Kajang Rams to play in the National Inter Club Championship this November. ​

LIGA PREMIER: MELAKA 3 - ATM FA 1 Melaka United showed their determination to capture the Premier League title in their 3-1 win over ATM yesterday. The home side have enjoying a very good season so far, to stay on top of the table. Ilija Spasojevic has become a very important player in the team after scoring a hattrick in the match. ATM got a goal but not enough to stop the high-flying Melaka from claiming another comfortable win. ​

PKNS FC HIT FIVE AGAINST DRB HICOM

LIGA PREMIER: PKNS FC 5 - DRB HICOM FC 0 DRB Hicom's home to stun PKNS FC at the Hang Jebat Stadium ended in misery as the they were trounced 5-0 by the host. PKNS FC were superior in all areas and made it very difficult for the visitors. Gabriel Miguel Guerra opened the scoring just after four minutes into the game. Juan Manuel Cobelli made it 2-0 in the 30th minute before Matias Nicholas Hadwa gave PKNS a three-goal cushion before the break. It was not over yet for PKNS in the second half. Their forwards were busy as DRB Hicom struggled to stop them. Juan Manuel found the net again in the 51st minute, and Gabriel Miguel scored the 5th goal of the night in the 90th minute. ​
