KUALA LUMPUR SINKS PENANG AT MERDEKA STADIUM

​LIGA PERDANA: KUALA LUMPUR 2 - PENANG 0 Kuala Lumpur dent Penang hopes in breaking for the top two spot of Malaysia Premier League table after the Hawks beat the Panthers 2-0 at Merdeka Stadium last Friday. Tied with 0-0 in the first half, Penang looked more fearful in second half with Hilton Moreira kept pumping up the pressure over Kuala Lumpur's defenders with a some dangerous attacks. Kuala Lumpur finally broke the deadlocks with Lee Jin-Seuk strike in 62nd minutes with a powerful shot in the penalty area. ​While Penang doubled-up their efforts in seeking for an equalizer, Pritam Singh put Kuala Lumpur in comfort after the winger low shot hits the net for the Hawks to lead the game with 2 goals advantage. LIVERPOOL DRAW WITH MALAYSIA XI IN FRIENDLY

​FRIENDLY: MALAYSIA XI 1 - LIVERPOOL 1 Liverpool ends the 2015 Asia tour with unexpected results after only draw against Malaysia selection 1-1. Malaysia gets their goal via Patrick Ronaldinho in 12th minute of match after manages to escape from the Liverpool defender, Dejan Lovren and calmly finished with a shot past the Reds' goalkeeper Adam Bogdan .  ​The striker was the last player called by Malaysian coach, Dollah Salleh to check into Malaysian selection camp after two of the foreign players played in the local league have turned down the call-ups. ​Liverpool have won three opening games of the tour, however had struggled to find rhythm in the attacking against the Malaysian side. Liverpool had created a number of chances, particularly in the second half, but occasionally pricked with mistakes. ZACH JOHNSON CLAIMS SECOND MAJOR VICTORY SINCE 2007

​Zach Johnson of the United States outclassed South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen and Australia's Marc Leishman in a four-hole playoff to win The Open on Monday. Victory was especially sweet for the emotional Johnson as it was his second Major victory since he won The Masters in 2007. With Johnson, Oosthuizen and Leishman finishing regulation play at 15-under-par 273, the playoff was decided over the first, second, 17th and 18th holes. Johnson drew first blood with birdies in his first two holes while Oosthuizen, the 2010 Open champion, made birdie-par. The treacherous road hole saw the trio making bogeys and Leishman was reduced to a mere spectator on the fourth hole after he had earlier bogeyed his first hole. Oosthuizen had the chance to extend the challenge with a birdie chance on 18 after Johnson had two-putted for par. BORRUSIA DORTMUND TEACH JDT A FOOTBALL LESSON

​FRIENDLY: JOHOR DT 1 - BORRUSIA DORTMUND 6 Borussia Dortmund thrashed Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) in a friendly match at Larkin Stadium on Thursday. The German powerhouse had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang , Mats Hummels , Ilkay Gundogan , and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in their starting line-up. Dortmund took the lead through a free kick taken by Gundogan in the 22nd minute which beat JDT goalkeeper Mohd Farizal Marlias . ​The eight-time Bundesliga champions doubled their lead when Aubameyang tapped the ball home following a low cross by Marcel Schmelzer . JDT had a defensive mistake in the 32nd minute between Mohd Farizal and Asraruddin Putra Omar which allowed Kevin Kampl to slot in the third goal. PALESTINE THRASHED MALAYSIA KUALA LUMPUR

​WORLD CUP QUALIFYING: MALAYSIA 0 - PALESTINE 6                                                Malaysia fell to a 6-0 defeat against Palestine in their 2018 World Cup Qualifier match at the Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur. Palestine almost found the net just two minutes after the kick-off but Tamer Seyam 's attempt flew over the bar. However, the visitors opened the scoring seven minutes later through Musab Battat strike. ​​Malaysia almost got the breakthrough but Amri Yahya 's shot tipped over the bar by Palestine keeper Tawfiq Abuhammad . The visitors doubled their lead in the 22nd minute after Sameh Maraaba tapped into the net after receiving a pass from Matias Hadwa . MATTHEW GILES CLAIMS VICTORY IN BALI

​Matthew Giles of Australia sank a clutch birdie putt on the last hole to win the US$76,000 Bali National Golf Championship by one-shot on Sunday. The 25-year-old was tied with Lindsay Renolds of Canada before holing a 30-feet birdie to win his first Asian Development Tour (ADT) title with a closing three-under-par 69 at the Bali National Golf Club . Renolds, who led by two shots early in the round, shot a 68 to settle for his fourth runner-up finish on the ADT while Sutijet Kooratanapisan of Thailand and current Order of Merit leader Hsieh Chi-hsien of Chinese Taipei finished third and fourth respectively. It was a case of so close but yet so far for Renolds, who holed seven birdies against three bogeys to charge in contention before being defeated by Giles' brilliant birdie finish. MALAYSIA LIFTS CRESCENT CUP AFTER BEATING ALGERIA IN FINAL

​CRESCENT CUP: MALAYSIA 19 - ALGERIA 11 Malaysia won the inaugural Crescent Cup after defeating Algeria 16-11 in the final. The host nation claimed the victory after a hard fought match against   Algeria at the Merlimau Polytech field in Malacca. Algeria took the lead after five minutes into the match through Yassine Saaoui . Malaysia did not back down despite facing the physically bigger Algerian player. They held on and took advantage of every mistakes made by the opponent.  Mohamad Syrie Saiful Sudin scored three penalties in the 14th, 19th and 36th minutes to give Malaysia a 9-5 half time lead.  ​Algeria came back after the break with better approach. They were more careful to avoid from conceding more penalties. In return, the Algerian got two penalties scored by Boris Bouhraoua to take over the lead with 11-9.
