SELANGOR WINS AND STAY CLOSE TO LEADER

MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: PERAK 0 - SELANGOR 1 At Ipoh Stadium, a penalty from former Perak player, Paulo Rangel has ensured the Red Giants are trailing by two points from current league leader Pahang for the title hunt. The Bos Gaurus defender make a mistake after taking S.Veenod down in penalty area and Paulo Rangel make no mistake to put Selangor in charge in 21st minutes. Perak were down to 10 men after Shahrizal Mohd Saad were shown a red card after making a dangerous tackle against Stilianos Pentelidis in 40 minutes after restart. With this win Selangor are third in the league after collecting 20 points from 10 match played which equals with Terengganu but saparated by a goal different while Perak are still in bottom with 8 points after 11 game played. PKNS HOLDS STAR STUDDED JDT

MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: PKNS 1 - JOHOR DT 1 Ten man PKNS braved the storm to hold Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) for a 1-1 draw at Shah Alam Stadium. The star-studded JDT failed failed to make their numerical advantage tell as the homeside held strong to keep the score until the final whistle. JDT named Daudsu Jamaluddin in the first eleven, which is his first start this season, while defender Mahali Jasuli was assigned to the right flank. RED GIANTS ARE BACK IN THE HUNT FOR AFC CUP

AFC CUP: SELANGOR 3 - HANOI T&T 1 Despite only collecting just two points from 3 matches played in first round of AFC Cup competition, Selangor bounced back  in style for the second round of the tournament. The Red Giants earned their first win with a 3 – 1 score against Hanoi T&T at Shah Alam Stadium on Tuesday. Paulo Rangel is the hero again after hitting a hattrick for Selangor. The Brazillian has now scored 4 goals from 4 matches. Selangor took the lead in 21st minutes with a fine lob from Rangel. The Red Giants doubled the lead twelve minute later after A.Thamil Arasu cross was tapped by Abdul Hadi before Rangel completed with a superb shot. JIMENEZ, THONGCHAI SHARE EURASIA CUP JOY

The emerging strength of Asian golf was for all to see when Team Asia completed a remarkable comeback to share the inaugural EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM with Europe on Saturday.   Trailing 0-5 after the opening fourball session and 3-7 after Friday's foursomes, Team Asia, who was captained by three-time Order of Merit winner Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand, dug deep and showed their fighting spirit by winning six matches and halving two matches to tie the match at 10-10 for a share of the spoils with Team Europe at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club . Thongchai hailed the courageous fight back from his team and was delighted with their never-say-die attitude. “I’m really proud of my team as they did a really good job by winning seven points today. It was a very good comeback and we showed that we can never be written off,” said Thongchai. The decorated Thai, a 13-time Asian Tour winner, led by example by defeating Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell 3&2.   “

VETTEL, MÁRQUEZ HONOURED AT LAUREUS

Three of the most exciting young sports stars of their generation, who have proved world-beaters despite their age, have been honoured at the 2014 Laureus World Sports Awards in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Germany’s Sebastian Vettel , the youngest four-time Formula One world champion in history at 26, was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, US swimmer Missy Franklin , at 18, became the youngest ever winner of the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award, while Spain’s Marc Márquez received the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year Award, after winning the World MotoGP Championship at just 20 years and 266 days. There was double delight for both Germany and Spain when the Awards were announced. TEAM ASIA HEROIC COMEBACK HOLDS TEAM EUROPE AT EURASIA CUP

EURASIA CUP: TEAM ASIA 10(7) - TEAM EUROPE 10(3) A stunning fight back from Team Asia saw the inaugural EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM end in a 10-10 draw after a thrilling final day at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club on Saturday. Trailing 3-7 overnight going into the singles session  and having been 0-5 behind after the first day’s fourball session, not many gave Thongchai Jaidee’s team much realistic hope of turning matters around. But they did just that, winning the session 7-3 to see the gleaming silver trophy shared with Miguel Angel Jiménez’s European troops at the end of the day.   Asian captain Thongchai got Asia off to the perfect start with a 3 & 2 win over 2010 U.S. Open Champion Graeme McDowell. SIME DARBY CLAIMS VICTORY OVER ATM

MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE: SIME DARBY 3 - ATM 2 Sime Darby FC secured a win to lift them off from the bottom of the Malaysia Super League table in an exciting match against struggling ATM 3-2. The Gladiators started off well when Bruno Martelotto scored an early goal for ATM. Arif Ismail equalised for Sime Darby in the 29th minute when he slots in a good pass from Juzaili . The score remained at 1-1 until the first half whistle. ATM came back stronger in the second half and they added the second goal from Juan Arostegui in the 55th minute. The home side took control of the game after the goal and William Mensah equalised in the 60th minute as he scored from the rebound after Syed Adney spilled Yosri's freekick.  Mahmoud Al Amna scored the winner for Sime Darby five minutes later.
